Radlein Obituary |
November 17 1940. Recorded as missing March 16 1941. In July, 1940, previously reported missing, now presumed killed in action, Peter George Anthony Watson, Pilot Officer, R.A.F.V.R He came to Radley (Smale's ,H) in September, 1934, from Taverham Hall, and left in December 1937, rather early, to study languages abroad. In October, 1938, he went up to University College, Oxford, where he became an enthusiastic member of the Oxford Air Squadron and joined the R.A.F. immediately on the outbreak of war. At Radley his quiet and unobtrusive manner prevented him from being widely known, but those who saw most of him fully appreciated his steady loyalty and deep affection. The expansion of his character, after he left school, was no surprise to his friends and it was clear, from all we saw and heard of him, that he would have conformed to the very best type of Old Radleian. We shall miss him greatly. |
