Radlein Obituary | June 17 1945. Killed in action in N.W. Europe in March 1945, Ivan Gordon Troup, Lt., 11h Hussars (E), (Hope's, E, 1937-41). The news of Ivan Troup's death came as a great shock to all who knew him. His genial placid temperament endeared him to all, while his fine physique made him an enthusiast and a good performer at many games. He was Captain of Tennis and in the Squash Team; he was also in the 2nd XV and was a House Prefect. His many qualities naturally made him a popular character in his Social. On leaving, he went up to Cambridge for a year and studied agriculture. On going down, he joined the R.A.C.H and later, in October, 1943. was commissioned in the 11th Hussars. He was in the Normandy landings in June, 1944, and was wounded in September, but rejoined his regiment, and quite near the end of the war, in March, 1945, he was killed in action. |
