Radlein Obituary | March 16 1941. In January, 1941, whilst on duty, Major General Justice Crossland Tilly, D.S.O., M.C., late Royal Tank Corps. He was at Radley in 1903-4 (Croome's, F) and joined the W. York Regiment from the Militia in 1909. He was seconded to the King's African Rifles in 1912, serving in East Africa in 1913-14, gaining the medal and clasp. He served in France in the last war from I9I6-19, being a Lt.-Col. of the R. Tank Corps by the end. He was wounded three times, mentioned in despatches, won the MC and bar and the D.S.O. In 1924 he gained the medal and clasp on the N.W. Frontier of India. He was given command of the 1st Tank Brigade in 1938. |
