| Radlein Obituary | February 25 1945. Killed in action in Western Europe in January, 1945, Gwynne Brian Sugden, O.B.E., Brigadier, late S. Wales Bord. (Stone's, B, 1918-1922). . Sugden was a very pleasant and useful member of his house, and being thoroughly reliable rose to the position of House Prefect. He was a good cricketer, and in the Eleven of 1921. He was also indefatigable in the O.T.C., and became a sergeant. From Radley he passed on to Sandhurst and in due time was commissioned to the S. Wales Borderers. He served in the Middle East and in the Central Mediterranean Force, being made first M.B.E., and then later C.B.E. In the first six months of 1944 he was at the War Office and during this interlude he was able to visit Radley and inspect the J.T.C. We at Radley mourn his loss specially, for he made a very deep impression on all with whom he came into contact on that occasion. |
