Radlein Obituary June 13 1943. In March, 1943, killed in action with the 8th Army, Geoffrey Hastings Brooke Sowter (Smale's, H, 1934-38), Lieut., Coldstream Guards. Though quiet and unassuming Geoffrey Sowter was well liked by all and possessed of those qualities which make for firm friendship between intimates. He always gave of his best, and during his last year at school did good service for his Social as a House Prefect. After leaving Radlev he went abroad before going up to Cambridge where he spent two years before joining an O.C.T.U., subsequently being commissioned in March, 1942. On his visits to Radley he showed he had developed into a confident and vigorous personality, and, by his death, Radley has lost a loyal son.
