| Radlein Obituary | June 16 1940. On 28th February 1940, at Maritzburg, Natal Captain Lewis Frank Reynolds. He was at Radley from 1913 to 1916 (Mr. Stone's, B). During the 1914-18 War he served as a Lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards in France and was wounded. After the war he went up to Christ Church, Oxford, and then returned to Natal. From 1922 to 1931 he was private secretary to General Smuts. In 1930 he was elected an M.P. for the Natal South Coast constituency, but in 1937, owing to ill-health, he decided not to seek re-election. At the beginning of the present war, in spite of his health, he rejoined the army, and was serving in camp as a Staff Captain in the "Q" 7th Infantry Brigade Headquarters when he was taken suddenly ill and a few days later he died in a sanatorium. |
