Radlein Obituary |
June 15 1941. Recorded as missing November 23 1941. Killed in action in April, 1941, Patrick Julyan Polglase, Wing Cdr., R.A.F. He was at Radley (Wilson-Green's, G) from 1922-5 but his short stay at the school did not give him opportunity of repeating the successes, academic and athletic, of his brother Edward. He will however be remembered by many of his contemporaries. His modesty, keenness and willingness, commended him to everyone who met him. He left Radley for a commercial career but later, several years before the War began, joined the R.A.F. as an Aircraftman. He gained a commission in I930 and at the time of his death was a Wing Commander. He was well-known in the Air Force. His genial presence was everywhere acceptable. He was a very popular and much respected officer whose loss is deeply felt and regretted. |
