| Radlein Obituary | November 17 1946. Killed in an aeroplane accident on September 19, 1946, Edmond Langley Fawcett Meynell, M.B.E., Wg. Cdr., RA.F. (Hellard's, C. 1928-32). From his earliest days at Radley Meynell's chief interest was in flying and his literature consisted of technical books on the science which he was to choose as his career. Though rather reserved he was a useful member of his Social and represented them on the football field and on the river. He was a House Prefect, and rowed in the Trial Eights and got his Third Eight colours. He left rather young to go to the R.A.F. College, Cranwell, where he made his mark and was Prize Cadet. During the War he rose to the rank of Wing Commander and was awarded the M.B.E. in the New Year Honours. A promising career in the R.A.F. was cut short in the accident in which he met his premature death, |
