Radlein Obituary November 17 1940. Recorded as missing
March 16 1941. On 22nd June, 1940, reported missing, now presumed killed in action, John Richard Lloyd. He was at Radley (Wilson-Green's, G) from 1924-19~8 and is one of those who will always be remembered by his contemporaries with pleasure and affection. Among many cheerful people, he stood out because of his vivacity, his keenness, and his good
sportsmanship. These qualities did not fail him in after years. His first commanding officer wrote of him in The Times: 'He was an inspiration to the younger men of the unit, a great friend and a very gallant gentleman.'
Our deep sympathy goes out to his family, and perhaps especially to his brother William, his companion both at Radley and in their later life in the City.
