Radlein Obituary November 25 1945. Reported to have been killed in Sarawak during 1942, Donald Cecil Hudden (Stone's, B, 1917-22). We have been anxious about Hudden ever since the Japanese reached Borneo in their southward drive and we have had no news of him until this report of his death which arrived recently. From his early days at Radley he showed promise of developing into a valuable member of our community, and ended as a school prefect. He was a fine cricketer; in the XI for three seasons. and finishing as Captain; he was also a strenuous member of the XV. But it was his fine character that we remember most and which endeared him to all who were privileged to know him well. When he left Radley he joined his father at Lysaght's Steel Works, but in 1928 decided to go abroad and secured a post in the Sarawak Civil Service. He was a good correspondent and wrote very interesting letters from Sarawak about the country and its inhabitants and his work among them. Hudden will be sadly missed out there and among many at home, who are the better for having known such a warmhearted true friend. Our deepest sympathy goes to his parents who have now lost both their sons.
