Radlein Obituary |
June 14 1942. Recorded as missing February 18 1943. In May, 1942, missing from operations. since presumed killed, Peter John Lascelles Hoyle, Sergeant Air Gunner, R.A.F.V.R (Macpherson's-Paton's, A). Though, to our regret, he did not stay long enough with us to reach his full development, he was outstanding as a boy of sterling worth. Generous, simple-hearted, and affectionate, he gained and kept the esteem of many friends who appreciated his straight and strenuous character. He loved Radley and in frequent visits he showed the keenest interest in all that concerned the School. In the R.A.F. his uncomplaining devotion to duty earned him the commendation of his Commanding Officer and the confidence of his comrades. For ourselves, we shall sorely miss his beaming smile and his warm solicitude. |
