Radlein Obituary | March 8 1942. In November 1941, killed in action, Peter Wilson Hewitt (Boyd's-Morgan's, G, 1934-37), Flight Sergeant, R.A.F.V.R. His career at Radley was one of great promise and had he not left so young he would have reached a high position of responsibility. He was a boy of great vigour and had a marked influence on his circle of friends. He was a very good Rugger forward, and a promising oar. He rowed in Junior Trials in 1937 and was a member of the 3rd VIII in the same year. On leaving Radley he went into his father's pottery business, but joined the R.A.F. soon after the outbreak of war. He trained in Canada, and was later posted at Abingdon. From there he went to an Operational Station, and was listed as missing after his first flight over Germany. |
