Radlein Obituary | October 18 1942. In June, 1942. missing. presumed killed in H.M.S. 'Grove', Sub-Lieut. Anthony Claude Hermo-Hodge, R.N.V.R. (Macpherson's - Paton's, 1934-1939), aged 21. He came as an entrance scholar and made his mark as an intellectual boy, taking certificates and prizes in his stride, without neglecting wider interests. Music, fencing. and the study of birds were his main diversions, and he was as thorough in his application to them as in everything else he did, Warm-hearted but shy, he reserved his friendship for a few but his uncompromising strength of character won him the respect of all. Those who knew him well will have reason to feel a specially keen grief at his passing. |
