Radlein Obituary November 19 1944. Killed in a flying accident on Sept. 12th 1944, Thomas Alfred Hemingway, Sergt. Pilot, R.A.F.V.R., (Hope's, E, 1937-40). Tom Hemingway did not stay his full time at Radley, leaving during the troubled summer term of 1940, soon after he was sixteen, but his contemporaries will remember him as a jovial, good-natured boy, always friendly and full of spirits. As soon as he was old enough he joined the R.A.F.V.R. and qualified as a pilot. He had started taking the examinations for a commission when he was killed.
