Radlein Obituary June 18 1944. In February, 1944. killed in action in Italy, Michael Godfrey Heath, Major, RE. (Hedgecock's, F, 1932-36), Michael Heath must have been one of the largest new boys ever to enter the school, He was intelligent and energetic in his studies, and he was one of the most capable boys in the Science VIth Form of his day, a form which is still remembered for the standard of its work, and the successes its members achieved. His games were at first somewhat hindered through high blood pressure. When this abnormality, unusual In a young boy, disappeared, Heath soon showed a corresponding enthusiasm in Athletics and Rugger. He was a good marksman and captained the School Shooting VIII. He achieved success with the shot-put and discus-throwing, and he won the standard in discus-throwing by schoolboys at the White City. Heath was secretary of the XV and also of the Scientific Society. He was a tower of strength to his House. He was a good leader, encouraging the juniors, and setting a splendid example for them to study and try to emulate. He organised the House Savings Movement and the House Library, and he was a Company Sergt. Major in the O.T.C. He made a judicious school prefect. In August 1935. he went to Newfoundland as a member of the Public Schools Exploring Expedition. He passed 3rd into Woolwich in the November Examination of 1936, and his career there brought credit to his school, and the promise of a most successful future
for him in the Royal Engineers, Everyone who knew him will mourn his death and we extend our deepest sympathy to his parents and to his young wife
