Radlein Obituary | June 17 1945. Died of wounds in March. 1945, on the Western Front, Francis WaIter Andrew Glossop, Captain, Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders (Macpherson's, A, 1930-34). Francis Glossop while at Radley took an active interest in every side of school life. He of those who contribute so much to the well-being of a community without playing a very leading part themselves. He was keenly interested in the Social and the School and would always do his utmost to help whenever he was wanted. He was elated at the success of others and had the valuable gift of seeing the best side of everything and everybody. By his own example, good cheer and sincerity he proved himself a most likeable and valuable member of his social. He had made up his mind to go into the Army and from Radley he went to Sandhurst and was commissioned in 1936. In 1942 he transferred to the Canadian Military Forces. As a boy he gave freely of all that he had to his school and it was certain that he would give himself with the same enthusiasm to his country in her time of need, and having made the complete sacrifice he leaves behind, with his many friends, a memory of one who gave no thought for himself, but through his love of service he proved an inspiration to many. |
