| Radlein Obituary | November 17 1940. Died at Calais of wounds received in action in May, 1940. Jerome Pender Duncanson. He came to Radley (Hope's, E) in January, 1928. He was a House Prefect, was in the Football XV two years, and was in the Shooting VIII. One Saturday in May, in his last term, he suddenly decided to become a wet bob, and went down to the river for the first time. Exactly five weeks later, he rowed "3" in a victorious 2nd VIII at Marlow. On leaving he went up to Emmanuel College, Cambridge. as a University Candidate for the Army, and later took a commission in the Rifle Brigade. Of the most delightful disposition, "Jerry" Duncanson was inevitably always popular with his contemporaries. He was a keen sportsman and the familiar phrase" one of the best" exactly fits him. |
