| Radlein Obituary |
June 16th 1940. In May. 1940, missing, believed killed on active service, John Patrick Dalton. He was at Radley (Mr. Smale's. H) from 1930-1933. John Dalton, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dalton of St. Augustine's. Eastbourne, came to Radley in May 1930 with a classical exhibition. Though somewhat shy and sensitive, he entered happily into all sides of school life and made himself well-liked and appreciated by his contemporaries. He left rather early before he had attained the position of responsibility which would normaily have been his in due course, and, after a period in business, went into the Royal Air Force where he found himself in his element and gave every indication of a distinguished career. He was gazetted Acting Pilot Officer in 1938 and Pilot Officer last December. |
