| Radlein Obituary | June 14 1942. On March 2nd 1942, Charles Bertram Colvile, Lieut., The Royal Welch Fusiliers. A Scholar of Christ Church and the winner of many prizes, he came to Radley as a master in 1938, and after teaching Modem Languages here for a year joined up at once on the outbreak of war. He obtained a commission in the Royal Welch Fusiliers, but volunteered later for the Parachute Corps. In the words of the Times: "Rapidly he became one of the country's most skilful parachutists ... He was wonderfully dexterous both in the air and on the ground, and was one of those who gave a display before the Prime Minister. When the time came for other men to be trained as parachutists he became one of their chief instructors." |
