Radlein Obituary | February 18 1943. In October, 1942, missing, presumed killed in H.M. Submarine 'Talisman', Michael John Brendon, Lieut., RN. It was only a short time after the death of his brother David that we learnt that M. J. Brendon had been lost at sea. "Micky" Brendon was at Radley (Boyd's-Morgan's, G) from 1934 to 1937 and, though he was not prominent in any particular sphere, yet his influence made itself felt in many ways. He was a House Prefect, a member of the Sixth Form, a sergeant in the Corps and also rowed in the 3rd VIII and played for two years in the 2nd XV. He made himself many friends; he was kindly, good-natured, straightforward and, above all, dependable; one knew that any task entrusted to him would be well done. He will be much missed, and our sympathy goes out in full measure to his parents who by his death have lost their last surviving son. |
