Radlein Obituary | June 17 1945. Missing, presumed to have lost his life in the Liberator "Commando" in March, 1945, William Hugh Biddell, O.B.E., D.F.C., Wing Cdr., R.A.F.O. (Hedgecock's. F, 1930-34). He was a reserved boy, but very keen and loyal to his House, and proud of his School. After leaving Radley he qualified as a Pilot Officer in the R.A.F., obtaining his commission in 1935. From this time he has crowded many experiences into service for his country. At school he was in the 3rd XI and the Shooting VIs of 1933 and 1934. He gained the School Certificate and was a House Prefect. In addition to British awards for war service he was given the· Polish Cross for Gallantry for flying to Bordeaux in June, 1940. and piloting General Sikorski to this country. We deeply mourn the passing of a sincere friend and a gallant airman and we extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, and to his parents who have now lost both sons in the war. |
