June 15 1941. Recorded as missing November 23 1941. On 25th February, I941, on active service, Charles Heywood Malbyse Beckwith, Sub-Lieut., RN. He was at Radley (Macpherson's and Paton's, A) from 1933-1937 and joined the Navy by Special Entry. He was in the Hockey XI, the Rugger XV, and the Athletic Team. and was also a School Prefect. He had an active, alert mind, and a great love of outdoor pursuits. He made friends readily, and a large number of Radley contemporaries as well as the officers and men of his ship will mourn the loss of a gay, high-hearted companion. |
